I have been involved in a few matches in my time that have been one-sided, I have watched a few more from the stand or the side-line that have fallen into the same category. This game definitely fell into that category and to be honest as a contest it was over after 10 minutes, the visitors could even afford to not score for 11 minutes they were that much in control

The forecast was very favourable as we made our way down towards Drimnagh and Galtymore Road, the hosts had a difficult opening day trip to Donabate and things were not about to get any better for them. We won the throw-in and Mick knocked the ball down to Kyle who began a forward move which ended 30 seconds later with a white flag and the first point of the afternoon as CJ stuck it over from close range. The ball was only kicked out and it was back in the hosts half as fast and a quick move ended with Rhys fisting the ball into the net, you could sense from the line that Good Counsel knew they were in for a tough morning. We didn’t let up and kept attacking and the scores kept coming, points from Conor, Eoin and both Adam Drewett and McGarr were to follow and with ten minutes gone the ball was in the net with Conor finishing a well worked move down the middle of their defence. There was a bit of a lull for the next 10 minutes with a couple of wides from the hosts, but they did manage a score with a well taken point from play, albeit their only one of the half. After our little breather we took some great scores again and another green flag was raised again by Conor and a couple of nice dead ball scores from Eoin and George who got in on the act with a couple of frees from the ground as we moved into injury time. The whistle went for the break with 20 points between the teams and we left a few behind with that, it should have been a few more

The second half started and despite the fact we made a couple of half-time changes there was no let up in the scoring Conor had the ball in the net with the first attack and together with Adam and Rhys tagged on a couple more points also. Alex Darcy finished a nice move with a goal of his own mid-way through the second half and except for a few points from the hosts it was all one-way traffic once again. Ed popped up with a point from corner back and sub-Adam Brady kept the scoreboard moving along too with his own point, as we headed towards injury time the ball was in the net for the sixth time with Mick O’Keeffe capping off a fine display in midfield to finish into the net. The game ended like it had started with a point from CJ, not much we can learn from a game like this, but we can only beat what is put in front of us, tougher days to come but we will enjoy another 2 points on the day

A couple of shoutouts on the day to James Fenlon at half-back, Adam Drewett and Adam McGarr in the forwards and obviously to Conor with a phenomenal return of 3-7 as a stand-out display. Also Mick O’Keeffe in Midfield won everything and controlled so much more – well done all !!!

Next up is St Brigids in Saggart on Sunday March 20th, thanks for the support everyone see you all then
